How To Prevent Anal Itching

| Kamis, 12 April 2012 | 0 komentar

How To Prevent Anal Itching We all know how embarrassing that itchy bum moment could be. Generally people will cope with this itching condition but if it is going to last for a lifetime it becomes a hugely embarrassing condition as you have no choice but to keep scratching away at your bottom which is not at all a pleasant sight not only for you but for all the people who accompany you. In this article we are going to discuss about some of the common symptoms of anal itching, its causes and how people can get instant relief from anal itching through use of home based remedies. If you are experiencing itchiness in your anal area do not worry because although it is an embarrassing condition but it is not a very serious health concern. It has been noted that rectal itching is at its worst during night. One major reason of anal itching is poor hygiene; hence to prevent itchiness the anus has to be kept clean and free from bacteria. The skin around the anus is crinkly in nature and has faeces trapped in it which have to be cleaned away. Our bottom part can also sometimes become quite airless and sweaty due to the kind of clothes we wear sometimes thus creating a conducive environment for bacteria to thrive and cause itchiness in the anal area. One thing that aggravates this condition is scratching which is a normal reaction of the body to experience some relief but scratching only provides momentarily relief but it can worsen the condition if a person continues to scratch away and this habit is highly unhygienic in nature. There are plenty of treatment options available but be careful before you select one. There are some creams which can slime up the area more thus causing more problems. Some homeopathic products like rectorex balm and anal itch assist have been found to be very effective in treatment of anal itching. Anal itching sufferers should also avoid using scented toilet paper and soaps as most of them contain alcohol and other chemicals which are harmful for the anal skin area and wear cotton underwear as it is breathable and a natural fiber. People who wear synthetic clothes are more prone to rashes and irritation in the skin because such clothing materials make it difficult for the skin to breathe normally thus giving birth to skin problems. So anal itching is a condition which could be easily treated provided you use the right treatment options and maintain good hygiene levels and occasionally take help of remedies like rectorex balm if the problem is starting to occur.

Shark Liver Oil Supplements Give Allergy Sufferers Relief While the winter season begins to phase into the warmer weather months this spurs the blooming of plants and trees. Although springtime is picturesque it can wreak havoc on allergy sufferers. Just ask anyone who has allergy issues and they'll tell you it's a miserable condition they dread every year. As allergy stricken people reach for medication at their nearest drug store, many aren't aware of how shark liver oil can offer its fair share of hay fever relief. In fact, decades of research has shown this as true. And starting this oil supplement routine now will give allergy sufferers a head start. These supplements are normally found in health food stores. But as with any product, please do research in finding the right one because there are so many out there on the market. Look for a product that guarantees purity, potency and has a long track record of selling its product to consumers as well as health and wellness clinics. When buying this type of oil supplement it's important to find a manufacturer who creates a product that has the following: No artificial preservatives No colors No dairy No soy protein No soy No wheat No yeast High quality supplements of this kind have been proven to lessen allergy symptoms, such as: Itchy nose Red, itchy and watery eyes Sneezing Post nasal drip Dark circles under the eyes brought on by congestion Controlling the above allergy symptoms also has the potential to ward off sinus infections, too. This oil which is high in Omega 3s, also has a miracle ingredient named Alkylglycerols, otherwise known as AKG. AKG naturally boosts a person's immune system. In the human body, AKG is found in human breast milk, liver, spleen and bone marrow. Research has shown that a mother's breast milk can do wonders for her baby in increasing its immune system and lowering the chances of allergies. The same "AKG philosophy" is used for shark liver oil consumption in humans. Retrieving refined AKGs from the shark is a tedious and scientific process. This is why finding a reputable manufacturer is so important otherwise a supplement user will not get the full benefits of shark liver oil. And most of all, they will be throwing their money away on a substandard product. Before starting any supplement, it's advised to seek the advice from a healthcare professional. Avid users of shark liver oil call it a supplement they can't live without, especially during allergy season. Nutrylis Del Mar based in San Diego County, offers a superb shark liver oil supplement called Shark Liver Oil Ecomer®. Since 1995, Nutrylis has provided its shark liver oil supplements around the globe to consumers, health clinics and retailers.

New, Green Technology Being Used to Improve Indoor Air Quality

New, Green Technology Being Used to Improve Indoor Air Quality Improving Indoor Air Quality Did you know that you could control the indoor air quality of your home? Your air quality is the result of a variety of factors, including the quality of the air that comes into your home from the outside, the number of pets and smokers in your home, and the effectiveness of your air filtration and ventilation systems. By taking careful stock of the air quality in your home, you can make sensible changes that will improve the quality of the air inside your home and improve your breathing and overall health. According to the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the primary cause of indoor air quality problems in homes comes from sources that release gasses or particles into the air. Pets, pet urine, smoking and cooking all contribute to the quality of the air we breathe indoors. Also Insufficient, ventilation can increase pollutant levels by not bringing enough fresh outdoor air inside to dilute gasses or particulate emissions. In the last couple of years, scientific evidence has shown that air within homes can be more polluted than outdoor air. Other research indicates that people spend about 90% of their time indoors. Because of this, the health risks for some of us may be greater due to exposure to pollution indoors than outdoors. Another factor is energy conservation, to day's homes have more insulation, doors and windows are tighter restricting the natural flow of air. Poor Air quality is determined by the balance of negative and positive ions in your home environment, so little attention is paid to this most important correlation. I believe that is the result of the two words involved. Where negative is determined to be mad and positive is determined to be good. What are air ions? In nature, there exist both positively charged ions (pos-ions) and negatively charged ions (neg-ions). These molecules have powerful effects on human biology, both negatively and positively affecting us. Although common sense would suggest that positive ions would have a positive effect and negative ions a negative effect the opposite it true. Negative ions, specifically negatively charged oxygen molecules (different from ozone), have proven to have beneficial effects on human health. What is a negative ion? A negative ion is a molecule with a negative charge assigned to it. Negative ions occur commonly throughout nature and can create an overall sense of well-being. Negative ions are found after a rainstorm (falling water creates negative ions) the seashore, or after a lightning strike. Every time you take a shower the water creates negative ions, feels refreshing. The smell in the air generated after a rainfall is actually the odor of negatively charged ions in the air. What are positive ions? Positive ions are positively charged molecules (positively charged carbon dioxide) and have a negative health effects on human health. Studies have shown they can inhibit ciliary motility (the cleaning mechanism in our respiratory tract) increasing risk of infection. Positive ions are found in high concentrations before a storm when it is windy and in areas that have high outdoor air most homes have more than one source that contributes to indoor air pollution. Luckily, there are steps that we can take to cut the level of indoor air pollution in our homes. Ionizers and ozone machines are effective and will improve indoor air quality they also remove odors, some are expansive and need on going maintenance. When it comes time to repaint your interior of your home or businesses consider the Air-ReNu paint additive, Air-ReNu produces a continuous flow of healthful negative ions and IFR's, purifying the air while removing offensive odors. Works like a charm, no odor, no electricity, no filters and no problems. Healthier indoor air is critical - especially for those who are susceptible to respiratory ailments, colds, viruses and bacteria. Now, thanks to innovative and green technology, it is easier to improve air quality and remove offensive odors and pollutants in a way that is safe, clean and effective.

A 'Cure' For Chronic Allergies? Shots Help Patients Develop Long-Lasting Immunity

A 'Cure' For Chronic Allergies? Shots Help Patients Develop Long-Lasting Immunity One in five Americans suffers from chronic allergy symptoms, and about 17 million more suffer from asthma, which often includes shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing. All are symptoms which can greatly impair a person's quality of life. Traditionally, the first thing an allergist will do is treat via avoidance - having the patient avoid the allergen trigger. Allergy shots were first used by a physician in 1911 who injected patients with boiled grass pollen. Needless to say, a lot has changed in the past century. Allergy shots are the only treatment for allergies and asthma that actually change the way a body's immune system reacts to allergic triggers. Many oral medications, both prescribed and over-the-counter, treat only the symptoms. Allergy shots work differently. By changing the immune response to allergens, such as pollen, cat dander or dust mites, patients can develop a long-lasting immunity. According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, immunotherapy provided by qualified physicians is an effective and safe treatment for asthma, allergic rhinitis and insect venom allergy. Allergy shots cannot be used for food allergies. They are safe for both adults and children. In addition to triggering the production of antibodies, the allergy vaccine seems to "confuse" the immune system. As the body processes the injection, the way you react to allergic triggers is changed, and it eventually turns off the antibody producing system. A doctor might offer to describe the allergy shot process as one that slowly builds up immunity over several years. In the build-up phase, the shots are given in low doses on a more frequent basis before reaching the maintenance dose, where patients begin seeing an improvement in allergy symptoms. Despite misconceptions that allergy shots are a lifetime commitment, many doctors say most people take them about once a month for up to five years, although there are some patients who choose to continue longer. Allergy shots are effective in 85 percent of patients, which is a tremendous percentage. It is the best treatment in the minds of numerous physicians. So who needs allergy shots? First, an allergist will determine if a patient is truly allergic, which is usually done through skin testing that takes about 15 minutes. Patients may consider shots if the allergies are overwhelming and affecting their quality of life. After an allergy has been identified, the severity and frequency will be assessed. Once this determination has been made, the level and type of treatment will be discussed. Once the patient has been reviewed for other complications or medical ailments, treatment can begin in an attempt to repel the allergy. Erin M. Williamson is a pubic relations specialist with The Longstreet Clinic, a multi-specialty physicians practice. Allergy Sufferer? Create an Allergy-Free Sanctuary

Allergy Sufferer? Create an Allergy-Free Sanctuary When it comes to allergies the best thing to do is to avoid the allergens. Allergens include pollen from certain plants, dust, dander, and even mold. All of these allergens hang in the air and are inhaled into our respiratory system. Now that spring is approaching, these allergens will be in full effect. Avoiding the outdoors when pollen counts are highest, such as between 5am and 10am, will keep your allergies at bay. Some days are worse than others so you may want to check your local news station website to see if they provide a daily pollen count. On days when pollen counts are high, it is best to stay indoors and keep all of the windows closed. With your home's air conditioner running, it will stay cool and comfortable while filtering any air that is entering your home. Because air conditioning filters the air before it is circulated throughout your home, it can catch bothersome allergens. You may also set your air conditioning system to recirculate the air to limit the amount of air that is coming from outside. If you have to leave your home, be sure to turn the air conditioning on in your car. Your car's A/C will also filter the air or even recirculate the air which will reduce your exposure to bothersome allergens. Remember that when you go outside, allergens attach themselves to your hair, clothing, and even skin. When you get home from being outdoors it helps to take a shower to rid your body of the allergens before you hop in bed. Night after night of going to bed with these allergens can build up on your bedsheets. Regularly wash your bedding in hot water at least once a week. If you have a family pet, do not allow them lay on your bed or furniture as allergens can continue to build up there as well. When pets go outside, pollen and other allergens cling to their fur. When they come back into your home, they are bringing in a variety of allergens from outdoors. Keeping these simple tips in mind will help you to realize how allergens enter your home. Minimizing the amount of pollen that you, your pets, and your air conditioner bring into your home will create a space that you can retreat to when pollen counts are high. Your home can become your own personal, allergy-free sanctuary! Hopefully these tips will help you to avoid seasonal allergens. At Cowboys Air Conditioning & Heating, we perform a 19-point AC Tuneup and Air Quality Check. When we are done, your air conditioner will be dust free and your filter will be treated with an anti-microbial spray to discourage bacteria and mold. All of this is done to help you and your family breathe easy and to keep your air conditioner in prime condition.

Home Air Purification System: A Healthy Way To Live

| | 0 komentar

Home Air Purification System: A Healthy Way To Live Home Air Purification System are best defense against poor indoor air quality. There are two categories for Pollutants found in a home: Particulate matter: dust, smoke, pollen, animal dander, tobacco smoke, particles generated from combustion appliances such as cooking stoves, and particles associated with tiny organisms such as dust mites, molds, bacteria, and viruses. Gaseous pollutants: gas cooking stoves, car exhaust, and tobacco smoke, building materials, furnishings, adhesives, paints, varnishes, cleaning products, and pesticides. The people who make home air purification system know that 'You have to move the air to clean the air'. The reason for this is that the particles in your home, such as dust, and pet dander are so microscopic and lightweight that they can remain suspended in the air for hours. Air Purifiers with multiple technologies are used to remove nearly all types of pollutants and the first of these technologies are: High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters - Categorized as Particle Removal. HEPA air filters were developed by the Atomic Energy Commission during the 1940's. They were initially used to prevent the spread of airborne radioactive contaminants. In the 1950's the filter was commercialized and the name became a registered trademark. The first HEPA air purifiers were bulky, difficult to operate, and traditionally used only in hospital and pharmaceutical settings and among computer chip manufacturers. HEPA air filters became popular for Home Air Purification System in the 1970s and 1980s as more residential consumers became concerned about indoor air pollution. HEPA air filters are made from very tiny glass fibers that are made into a tightly woven paper. This creates a filter that can capture extremely small particles. Once captured, contaminates and particles are not able to flow back into circulation. HEPA air filters remove 99.97% of particles and are more effective than any other type of air filter at capturing dust, pollen, ragweed, dust mites, mold spores and other allergens. Activated carbon air filters Categorized as Gaseous Pollutant Removal. Activated carbon air filters have a vast system of molecular size pores. These pores are highly adsorbent and form a powerful chemical attraction to gases, odors, liquid contaminates, and cigarette smoke. It is the most absorbent filter material known to man. Other Home Air Purification System have Ionizer filter which disperses negative ions to search for and eliminate particles and bacteria from the air. Government studies have proven the ionizer to be effective, and to enhance performance of filters. Germicidal Ultraviolet Lamp destroys micro-organisms, such as germs and viruses, that cause colds, flu and other sicknesses, as well as bacteria and fungi. Anti Bacterial Pre Filter for larger particles, which lengthens the life of the other filters. Washable Pre-Filter effectively Removes: dust, allergens, mold, micro-organisms, cigarette smoke, odors, chemicals, bacteria and much more, due to the combination of several air-cleaning technologies.

Picking the Child With the Peanut Allergy

Picking the Child With the Peanut Allergy Everyone wants to be included. Think about the days of gym class and they were picking teams. Most likely you stood there, quietly praying... "Pick me...Pick me". You didn't want to be picked last, because those who were, were usually those no one wanted. Please think about the child with the peanut allergy and how they must feel. When they are left out from certain activities and events, it makes them feel unwanted. They have to watch all their friends having fun and eating those yummy treats, but they can't have any. They are excluded for something they have no control over. Here are some easy ways to help include a child with a peanut allergy: Contact the teacher or parent and get a list of safe snacks that you can send into the classroom. Make sure you only send in items that have a label. Don't send in any items from a bakery or that you may have baked yourself. When the ingredients or cross-contamination is unknown, the child will not be able to eat it. Teach your child about peanut allergies and how they can help keep their classmate safe. This includes properly washing hands, and making sure they don't eat peanut products when they are going to be around them. Encourage them to watch out for their classmate and help protect them from accidental exposure. Consider reaching out to the child's parent too, I'm sure they could use some positive encouragement and support. Not only do parents have to deal with the fear of their child having a life-threatening reaction, they have to deal with negativity and doubt from others. You'd be surprised at the nasty things people say to parents and even the children who have peanut allergies. Some people get so upset because they can't send baked items into the classroom or pack peanut butter sandwiches for school. Some don't understand, (and some don't even seem to care) that the smallest exposure of a peanut can be life-threatening to the child. Making a Difference: I've always loved The Starfish Story by Loren Eisley. It's about a man walking down the beach who sees a young boy throwing starfish back into the ocean. He stops to ask the boy what he's doing. The boy tells him that the tide washed all the starfish onto the beach, and if they remain there, they're going to die. The man says, "There's miles of them along this beach, how are you even going to make a difference?" The boy picks one up, and tosses it into the water. Then he says, "I made a difference to THAT one." You have the ability to make a difference in the life of that child, and in the life of their parent. Making small changes or taking the time to say an encouraging word can mean so much. You can't change the world, but you can make a difference in one life. And if everyone just made a difference in one person's life, how could that not change the world? Pick them! Stacey has a M.A. in Education and focuses on creating a safer environment at school for children with peanut allergies. 3 Signs of Chlorine Allergy

3 Signs of Chlorine Allergy When summer comes around the corner, it is never complete until swimming is included in the itinerary. There are numerous bodies of water wherein adults and children alike go swimming, including lakes, rivers, ponds and beaches. However, public and private swimming pools have become a good option for those warm and sunny days when you're just in the mood for frolicking in the water, mostly because they are easily accessible and considerably safer. However, your summer enjoyment can be cut short once you experience the symptoms associated chlorine allergy. There is still no plausible cause as to why people become allergic to chlorine. However, it is considered to be a harsh chemical because it is known to indirectly contribute to allergies simply by irritating the respiratory system. In fact, studies have shown that people who are exposed to chlorine for long periods of time are more at risk to develop respiratory allergies and asthma. Fortunately, people who are not constantly exposed to chlorine are also least likely to become allergic to it. Nevertheless, pools with high concentration of chlorine may still cause chlorine sensitivity. The important thing to remember is not to assume immediately. It is important to differentiate the allergy itself from other possible underlying conditions. Here are some of the symptoms of chlorine allergy, most of which manifest a few minutes after you go out of the pool: 1. Respiratory problems- This is considered to be one of the hallmark symptoms of being allergic to chlorine. If you suffered from asthma as a child then the feeling that you get will be more or less the same. In fact, it may even be more serious in stark comparison to asthma, especially if you are still exposed to chlorinated water. You may feel constriction in your chest or feel like you're clamoring for air to breathe or just not being able to breathe in general. You may also begin coughing or sneezing as the difficulty in breathing progresses. When this occurs, try to stay calm and ask someone to call the doctor for you. If you're still in the pool, move out. 2. Eye irritation- This symptom is not found in people fond of swimming pools alone. It also manifests on people who are exposed to chlorine through fumes and household products. If you notice your eyes becoming constantly red and itchy after being exposed to chlorine then you need to consider the possibility of an allergy. The eyes may also be dry or watery, depending on the body's reaction. It is important that you don't rub your eyes no matter how itchy it may feel. 3. Dry Skin- The dry skin associated with being allergic to chlorine does not constitute those white patches also typically seen in swimmers. In this case, the skin may start to feel tight, itchy or become extremely flaky after exposure to chlorine through household products or swimming. This is a good indicator of being allergic to chlorine. Now that you know the significant signs and symptoms of chlorine allergy, you need to be vigilant of these manifestations in order to stop them in their tracks and prevent any complications in the future.

My Bout With Allergies

My Bout With Allergies This is my personal account with my battles with my ever present allergies and how I have been treating this pesky ailment. Im not a doctor, so please understand this article is for educational purposes and should be read at your own risk. Background I have been dealing with seasonal allergies for a little over ten years starting at the age of about twenty one. My allergies seemed to get a lot worse when we introduced a family cat. By this time, my allergies were consistent with an almost on queue daily morning sneezing fit. Many drugs were purchased and used to help with the onslaught of sneezing, congestion and the headaches. None of them worked effectively for me. I have the desk drawer full of medication to prove it. Also attempted were more natural approaches like breathing in steam and a nasal sinus rinse which was administered through the nose. (This nasal sinus rinse surprisingly worked for my congestion but I soon got tired of the rather cumbersome process). If you are interested in trying this method, there are plenty of resources on the web to get you started. Unfortunately, I started smoking cigarettes around the age of nineteen and got up to about a pack a day around the age of twenty two, this continued on for another nine years. (I had my battles with quitting during this time). I suffered periods of shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. I went to see a doctor and he prescribed an inhaler for me. I was very thankful to him for helping me ease my sudden loss of breath and severe attacks, which of course stemmed from all the smoking. I did quit smoking with the help of an inspiring book called. "The easy way to stop smoking" by Allan Carr. I am not endorsing this book, but it did help me in my efforts to quit smoking. Though I quit smoking I noticed my asthma got much much worse after about a month of quitting. Doctors visits ended with the same outcome. Here's a prescription for a purple disk and an emergency inhaler. After 3 months, 3 doctors visits and subsequent prescriptions, I decided to look for potential reasons for my Asthma continuing to worsen. This is when I stumbled upon a comment about hydrogen peroxide and this is when this story really begins. Medical History An important factor in my story and any story you read regarding treatment of any ailments are the history of the person. After all, doctors do have your file on record for a reason. I would say my medical history is somewhat non-existent. I do not go to the doctor very often; planned visits all revolve around my need for Asthma medication. After a certain point I stopped talking to my doctors about my Allergies a very long time ago because I was told to see a Specialist. After much time spent and a bit of frustration, I gave up on attempting to see an Allergist/immunologist. After a 6 month waiting list, I could still not actually schedule a concrete appointment. This is not the doctors or Allergists fault, its just the system and amount of patients needing attention. Allergy medication was prescribed by my doctor several times, but nothing worked effectively. My Asthma problems was much better handled then my Allergies as far as finding something that works. As mentioned above, I was using the purple disk along side an emergency inhaler. My doctor said my checkup is good but strongly suggested and pleaded with me to stop smoking. I took up his advice but a month into quitting and my Asthma dramatically got worse. My doctor said little hairs in my lungs, called Cillia, where lying somewhat dormant due to the smoking and are now starting to open up with the increase of oxygen since quitting smoking. These little hairs are pushing up all the bad stuff that has been accumulating in my lungs over the years but in the process making my Asthma pains much worse. I continue to deal with this aspect but am hopeful that i will get over this effect soon. Other then the past smoking history, I would say I am somewhat healthy, I don't eat out every day but I certainly don't maintain a strict diet either. I play a little basketball, but lately, as in the last 8 months, I haven't played at all. Prior to the 7-8 month absence I would say I played once a week. I drive my car to work but plan on riding my bicycle to work when the weather warms up. I know I need the exercise but riding in the cold and rain is very discouraging. I also plan on picking up basketball again when the weather heats up. The Story At the beginning of my research I read many personal stories about individuals and their experiences with Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy that didn't seem genuine. I was reading claims of alleviating not only chronic problems such as Allergies and Asthma, but also serious terminal ailments like Melanoma and Prostate Cancer. This left me with a very skeptical view. The claims seemed far-fetched and I could find no evidence of scientific research or clinical trials. On the other hand, I had used many prescription medications and "over the counter" drugs, that are backed by extensive medical research and funded by millions if not billions of dollars. Based on my experiences, I found the following... A. Most remedies I tried simply did not work and are still collecting dust in my medicine cabinet, in a drawer or in my fridge. B. Some products alleviated my symptoms, but had other drawbacks. They were expensive and had potential side effects. These side effects can be numerous and significant, as is plainly obvious from the advertisements alone. With this in mind, I was willing to try alternative therapies. Therefore I kept looking for more information, and for some reason I stayed curious about the varying uses of Hydrogen Peroxide. My research continued on. Though high concentrations of Hydrogen Peroxide are undoubtedly toxic, the same is true for many things we ingest. Everything hn moderation as the old saying goes. After reading about the role that Hydrogen Peroxide already plays in the body, I reasoned that using this treatment in the prescribed method, was likely not harmful and if it worked at all, it was likely to work for my symptoms. With a little fear of the unknown, I decided to give it a shot. The Results So far I have experienced some very positive progress with my Allergies & Asthma, which after suffering for so many years, is both exciting and encouraging. Regarding my daily congestion, I am once again able to breathe completely through my nose and right down into my lungs. I have not been able to do such a thing in many many years. I still do sneeze, but again, I still have the cat around so without removing the "problem" I cant expect the H2O2 therapy to cure this. My Asthma has gotten much better, though I do not completely rely on the H2O2 exclusively, I do use an inhaler for any emergencies I have with my breathing when an Asthma attack is on its way. To put this in perspective, prior to the H2O2 therapy, for three months I was on that purple disk prescribed by my doctor along with an inhaler used for any emergency Asthma attacks. The purple disk worked great for me, kept my Asthma in check but I really have no idea what it was or will do to my body now or in the future. The list goes on and on for potential side effects and I encourage any one reading this to seriously question what they are putting into their bodies and read the labels and the fine print. The monthly bill was also hampering my budget. Back to my results, once I stopped the purple disk and started the H2O2 i have not felt the need to "control" my Asthma with any prescriptions. Like I mentioned, I still do get attacks and have my inhaler with me at all times for those emergencies, along with my nasal mister. More info on the mister below. The Method The H2O2 method I researched and decided to use was the inhalation method. After about a week of researching other comments, youtube videos and any and all resources, the inhalation method was the method I felt would be best fit for me. Currently I am using a 4-4-4 method (easy for me to remember) which uses a 2.9% H2O2 solution (the solution consists of 29% food grade hydrogen peroxide diluted using 1 part 29% H2O2 and 10 parts distilled water placed into a nasal mister. The 4-4-4 method entails 4 nasal mist sprays, every 4 hours, 4 times a day. Side effects The Side effects All joking aside... None to speak of as yet. The Time Period 13 months and counting. (Since about early February 2011) Last Words I have created a site as part of my ongoing research in to the varying uses of Hydrogen Peroxide. It should be noted that I am a layman and am only sharing my personal experiences and creating a conduit for others to share their knoweldge and stories through the site. It is my hope that by providing this space for others to do the same, we may begin to develop a clearer picture of what potential this treatment may hold, whether it be positive or negative. I am not dismissing the importance of clinical trials, doctors recommendations and the pharmaceutical community. If you choose to use this alternative therapy, do so at your own risk. I can only speak for myself and I cannot praise enough how much it has helped me and I want others that experience issues with Allergies and Asthma to reconsider their options. Read up and educate yourself about this very misunderstood yet powerful and effective little fluid. Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed my story and hopefully you have the time to view the site.

A Few Tips For Finding The Best Allergy Products

A Few Tips For Finding The Best Allergy Products If you suffer from allergies, trying to find allergy products that actually work isn't just about getting relief, it's about finding ways to survive. Much more than sneezing and sniffling, allergies can cause painful sinus pressure and crushing headaches that impact the sufferer's ability to work and enjoy life. There's more to controlling allergic reactions than controlling your symptoms once they show up and controlling the environmental factors that cause them to happen. Fortunately, there are many innovative products which help contain and remove allergens. Here is a quick guide to help get you started. Barriers Creating barriers between the things that cause the allergic reactions and the allergens themselves are an important start. Dust mites, which are microscopic organisms found in couches, mattresses, pillows, and comforters, are a common trigger. We spend (should spend according to experts) a third of our lives in bed which means creating a barrier between ourselves and the dust mites is sensible. Products such as dust mite covers for your mattress, pillow, and covers which are made from specially created fabrics encase the allergens. Air Purification It may sound like a late night infomercial but air purifiers do work and the good ones work well. There are many purifiers on the market which fit a wide range of situations and applications. The ones you'll want to buy are ones that incorporate a HEPA filter as well as ones that are designed for quietness and for the size of the room you need it for. Water Filters People often overlook water filters in developing an allergen reduced environment, but they shouldn't. City water systems include chlorine as well as fluoride and other chemicals for purification which can be a real problem for allergy suffers. Water filtration systems include point of use and whole house applications. Cleaners HEPA vacuum cleaners and home steam cleaners also help keep down the allergens in the home without using chemicals or stirring up more dust. Today, sufferers can choose from numerous brands of cleaners made to withstand both home and commercial use. Allergy Relief Since it is impossible to completely avoid allergy attacks, controlling symptoms is another element in the overall strategy. Although there are prescription medications available, there are many over the counter medications and many all natural herbal allergy products available. The expansive choices even include remedies for children and ones that treat individual problems such as hives or inflamed sinus passages. Before taking natural remedies, check with your physician to see if they will interact with any other medications you have been prescribed. With the range of options available today, it is possible to keep allergens down to a minimum in the home and effectively manage symptoms when they occur.

Functioning with the itchy watery eyes, runny nose, stuffy head, and painful sinuses is hard and made more difficult by the effects of drowsiness caused by most medications. People look for natural remedies because they want the relief but they don't want the side effects of these medications. However, not everyone tries or even knows about many of the surprisingly simple solutions available for dealing with the symptoms drug-free. Change Your Diet The food and nutrients you put in your system is the basis of your health and is a huge part of how well your immune system can combat allergies. • Add plenty of deep hues and brightly colored fruit and vegetables to your diet. Produce with the richest colors contain the highest amounts antioxidants, which fight off free radical damage to cells that weakens immunity. They are also high in vitamins C and E, which have anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve swelling in the nasal passages. • During allergy season, consider reducing your intake of dairy, sugar, wheat, and preservatives. These are all known to cause excess mucus, increased congestion, nasal irritation and increase sensitivity to pollen. • Another step is to include more foods that are high in Omega-3 fatty acids like fish and nuts because Omega-3 helps to reduce inflammation. Make it Hot If you love spicy foods, you are in luck. Foods that have a lot of hot spices increases blood flow which brings more oxygen to the nasal passages which helps to thin and get rid of mucous. Sweeten it Up Locally raised raw honey contains the pollen of local flora and fauna. Consuming a few tablespoons a day can help your body adapt to them and lessen the severity of your symptoms. Cacao Unprocessed cacao reduced allergy symptoms significantly. While the processed cacao offers only a fraction of the benefits and the unprocessed quite bitter, the benefits are worthwhile. Herbs There are a variety of herbs and herbal supplements recognized as beneficial in the control of allergy symptoms. The most common of these symptoms include: • Stinging Nettle, which acts as a natural antihistamine. • Sodium Selenite, which helps boost the immune system. • Fenugreek helps to ease nasal congestion. • Aloe, which soothes irritated mucus membranes. With very little effort and incorporating a few changes to your diet natural allergy relief is well within reach for millions of sufferers.

3 Best Ways To Minimize Your Exposure

Relief From Seasonal Allergens - 3 Best Ways To Minimize Your Exposure There's always something blooming, and if you have allergies that are affected by pollen you don't need to read this to know it's true. Tree, grass, and weed pollens can trigger annoying and sometimes debilitating symptoms. Depending on the climate where you live, airborne pollen can appear as early as January and continue through the first frost in November. Here are 3 of the most effective ways to enjoy life despite in spite of it. Avoidance---With all of our technological advances, allergists still agree that the best way to manage allergies is to avoid the trigger. You may be shaking your head and wondering just how that's possible without locking yourself in a glass bubble for the rest of your life. Well, the good news is that it can be done. Parking your car in a covered space at home and at work will lessen the amount that you come in contact with when coming and going from your car. Try to find covered shelter when shopping at malls when possible too. Once you make this a goal, you'll be surprised at how many options you start to see that have been available to you all the time. There are also certain times of day when the pollen level is higher than others. Avoid being outside when that is true. Leave the mowing and yard chores to someone else at the peak of the season. Choose indoor activities on dry windy days. This will lessen the amount that is able to come indoors with you on clothes, hair, and packages. Instead choose outside time after a heavy rain, as the water is effective at literally clearing the air, at least for a while. Reduce The Numbers---Even with all of the precautions suggested here, there is no way to keep all of these tiny grains for getting into indoor air. You can remove clothing and place them in the laundry immediately to decrease the amount that comes inside. You can also take a shower to wash it off your skin and hair. And while these are effective, your schedule will not always allow you to do this. One of the best ways to minimize these triggers as well as more normal indoor allergens is to filter the air continually. Being able to keep the levels of allergens low is an effective, proactive, yet non-invasive way to minimize the problem. The best part about filtration is that since most people with allergies are allergic to a combination of things, filtering the air can also remove dust, dust mites, mold and mildew spores, pet dander, and a host of other particles and gaseous triggers. Once you start filtering the air, it takes very little of your time on a daily basis, and with the right air purifier, can be cost effective. Filtering the air can solve help reduce the problem and lessen the need to medicate the symptoms once they occur. HEPA (high efficiency particle arresting) filters can take out any particulate that is.3 microns or greater, with a micron being defined as one millionth of a meter. This means that tree, grass, or weed pollens can be drastically reduced in your indoor air. Know What's Happening---Knowing what the pollen levels are in your area and the weather conditions that will affect you is crucial in reducing your exposure. Fortunately, you can access local weather from your phone, laptop, TV, and newspapers. Get in the habit of finding out what's going on outside before you make plans. Set up alerts so that you get a text when conditions change, or set up a reminder to check on conditions several times a day during peak seasons. And even though conditions may change, knowing about the changes gives you the most control over how you choose to deal with it. It's true that knowledge is power, but in this case knowledge will also spell relief.

What Is Candida?

| | 0 komentar

What Is Candida? Candida is a yeast that exists naturally in our bodies. There are over 150 species of Candida; the most common being Candida Albicans. Candida's function in the body is mainly to destroy all rotting food matter in your gut before any nasty bacteria can feed on it. In a healthy person, Candida (controlled by the immune system and 'friendly' bacteria) is a non-invasive organism, however, when most people talk about Candida they are normally referring to a Candida Albicans overgrowth. What causes Candida overgrowth? A weakened immune system- allergies, excess sugar consumption, caffeine, stress and heavy metal toxicity all contribute towards a weakened immune system. Poor diet- the modern western diet is seriously lacking in fibre and important vitamins, yet high in refined carbohydrates. Fibre is an important part of a healthy diet. It keeps everything moving through your gut nicely and produces fatty acids that hamper the growth of Candida. Vitamin C, zinc, magnesium and selenium are essential for a healthy immune system; of these, vitamin C is the most important to consume regularly as the body does not store it. B vitamins, in particular Biotin, are essential to controlling Candida overgrowth. A diet containing nuts, whole grains, high quality fish, shellfish and meat will contain all of these essential vitamins, whilst a diet high in foods such as refined carbohydrates, yeast, refined sugars, fruit sugars, vinegar and fermented foods will encourage your Candida to flourish. Medication- so many medications affect the delicate balance of your body; medications such as antibiotics, steroids, birth control pills and hormones. Antibiotics are one of the worst culprits, because whilst they kill germs, they also kill the friendly bacteria in your gut - the same friendly bacteria that normally keeps your Candida under control. Pregnancy- pregnancy will alter your body's hormonal balance, sugar production and pH. Diabetes- a condition where the pancreas is not able to produce enough insulin in order to control the amount of glucose in the blood. If you have ever made bread or brewed alcohol, you'll know that for yeast to flourish it needs warmth and sugar; the same is true of the Candida yeast. Candida absolutely loves sugar and diabetics have lots of the stuff in their bloodstream - it's the perfect feeding ground for Candida. Mould- exposure to mouldy environments can encourage Candida growth - mould spores, once inhaled, can travel throughout the body. Why is Candida overgrowth a problem? As the numbers of Candida increase, the Candida shifts from its yeast state to a fungal state. The fungus establishes itself in the gut and alters the digestive environment; the pH becomes more acidic meaning that the absorption of vitamins and minerals stops, the production of digestive enzymes slows, friendly bacteria struggle to survive and the fungus flourishes. The result being that as the fungus grows, your body weakens. Once established in the gut, the Candida produces root-like structures called Rhizoids. Rhizoids penetrate the gut wall, creating microscopic holes, which allow undigested food particles, toxins, bacteria and yeast to enter the bloodstream. This stage is known as Leaky Gut Syndrome. The Candida spores can now create colonies outside the gut, in fact anywhere it can reach via the bloodstream. They first target low-oxygen areas, but can eventually settle in almost every organ in the body causing damage and bacterial infections. If this wasn't bad enough, the Candida fungus itself releases, as waste, over 75 toxins; some of which are: Acetaldehyde, a neurotoxin, said to damage brain structure and pathways Ethanol which has a negative effect on the brain and interferes with your body's biochemical processes Canditoxin which when injected into rats caused paralysis of the limbs and ultimately death Formaldehyde which causes a number of malfunctions in your body Conclusion Candida is a yeast that exists naturally in a healthy person's gut. It can however, given the right circumstances, overgrow easily and once overgrown, weakens and pollutes your body.

Mattress Cleaning and Removing Dust Mites

| | 0 komentar

Mattress Cleaning and Removing Dust Mites When most people think about mattress cleaning it's to either get rid of unsightly marks on it like sweat stains, blood or urine or to clean it for removing dust mites and for general hygiene. However, this is a very specialist process and careful thought should be given to how this is done as a mattress is very different to a carpet for which there are established and effective methods of cleaning. The problem is that a mattress doesn't dry well. Due to their composition and how thick thex can be, moisture in a mattress does not dry out easily, as with a carpet for example. This means that traditional cleaning processes used on carpets and upholstery should be avoided at all costs. This will rule out hot water extraction and also steam cleaning, even dry steam cleaning which still requires drying time and as the mattress takes such a lengthy time to dry this could encourage the growth of mould which is potentially hazardous to your health. Ok, so where does that leave you when it comes to mattress cleaning. Well most cleaning companies will agree that when it comes to stain removal for marks such as the ones mentioned above are almost impossible to remove, partly because it would mean making the mattress damp and partly because what works on a carpet does not necessarily work as well on a mattress and often when you try to remove a mark you will be left with ring when it dries. It would be far more sensible to leave the stains and clean the mattress a different way, to kill germs and remove any dust and allergens that have built up in the mattress. A mattress protector can always be put on the bed for aesthetic purposes after. So how do you go about removing dust mites and all the dust in there and hygienically clean it to kill germs without getting it damp? The most effective way of mattress cleaning is to use a very good vacuum which has a HEPA system on it. There is a but though. Most household vacuums aren't really powerful enough to do it properly, especially if you are concerned about removing dust mites you need to get a specialist mattress cleaning company to do it for you. They will use machines that have much more power and suction than your own, so they will be able to remove a lot more dust and allergens then you could. Their machines may also have a germicidal light on them too, which will have the added bonus of killing germs and viruses and denaturing allergens. Many will also finish the process by using a safe plant based spray which will be an anti allergen/sanitising spray. The end result will be a hygienically clean, allergen free and dust free mattress that's going to be dry and ready to use again within minutes. The cleaning company should also clean both sides of the mattress for you and leave the mattress turned too. Mattress cleaning carried out every 6 to 12 months will drastically help people with dust mite allergies, such as eczema, asthma and rhinitis, even people who wake up sneezing or with blocked up noses will feel a drastic improvement and it could mean you could hang on to your mattress longer and save you money in the long run.

Gluten Free Foods And Diet Gluten is a complex compound found in commonly used cereals like wheat, and barley. Some people are allergic to gluten, have a gluten intolerance, or have Celiac Disease. Its estimated that up to 10% of the U.S. population could have some form of gluten allergy. Gluten consumption for gluten intolerant people is extremely bad and could lead to many complex medical conditions. And a large percentage of people, though not gluten intolerant, have difficulty in digesting gluten. Many people in the U.S. are gluten intolerant and don't even know it. And many medical doctors misdiagnose gluten intolerant people all the time, as the symptoms are varied and different from person to person. Gluten consists of two main compounds, glutelin and gliadin. Its the substance which gives elasticity to dough and gives the sticky texture to the dough when kneaded. Gluten intolerance causes all kinds of symptoms including: headaches, migraines, exhaustion, bloating, abdominal pain, constipation/diarrhea, joint pain, and anemia, to name just a few. Any processed foods made from wheat, rye or barley should be strictly avoided. Having ample servings of vegetables and fruits and cutting way back on carbs is a big step towards going gluten free. Minimizing processed foods containing complex carbohydrates can immediately help people clear up any symptoms they might be having. Processed foods like biscuits, cakes, cookies, and bread usually have a significant amount of gluten in them and will need to be cut from the diet. Luckily for those who find themselves unable to eat gluten based foods, there are now many gluten free products on the market. Gluten free breads are available that are made of rice, millet, almonds, soy and other non-gluten grains. Rice is a common grain which is known to be devoid of gluten. Rice can be substituted over gluten based foods. Substances like beer and whiskey which are brewed with fermented wheat, are definitely gluten foods and should be avoided. Wine could be an alternate to beer. And there are now some gluten free beer products on the market. Maintaining good health by consuming gluten free foods is possible, provided some supplements are taken to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies. These supplements may be unnecessary if ample fruits and green leafy vegetables are included as a part of the diet. But doctors and nutritionists recommend taking vitamin supplements no matter what your diet. Especially for women and older people. Going gluten free could also bring in a lot of other health benefits. Avoiding processed foods brings a host of benefits such as reduced risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. A well planned diet based on gluten free foods will go a long way in your quest for good health. But cutting gluten products out of your diet is easier said then done. Our society is based on gluten foods: burgers and sandwiches, pastas, cereals, pastries - those are all gluten foods and a huge staple of the American diet. When first going gluten free, many people cannot keep themselves from cheating and eating the way they have eaten their whole lives. That's why it's so wonderful that there are now thousands of gluten free products on the market. Those with gluten intolerance and celiac disease can continue to eat sandwiches, pastas, and baked goods. You just need to know which gluten free products taste good and have a good texture to them.

Questions About Hay Fever? - 7 Answers That Can Help

| | 0 komentar

Questions About Hay Fever? - 7 Answers That Can Help Each year hay fever affects over 23 million people in the United States. And that number is based only on the people who check in with a health care professional. So it is pretty clear that this is a huge health issue. Knowing the answers to these 7 frequently asked questions can help you manage allergic rhinitis more effectively. Is there a difference between hay fever and allergic rhinitis? No, they are terms that are often used interchangeably for the same condition. Rhinitis being the more clinical name for hay fever is the swelling of the nasal tissues in some people that is caused by exposure to airborne irritants such as mold spores as well as tree, grass, and weed pollen. What are the symptoms for hay fever and how do they differ from a cold? This is a frequently asked question and a great one because the symptoms for the two conditions are very similar. Sneezing, coughing, congestion, post nasal drip are common to both conditions. However, it is the duration of the symptoms that gives the best indication. Cold symptoms tend to run their course in 5 to 10 days. Allergy symptoms can last for months. And by consulting a physician about symptoms that last more than several weeks, they are often able to determine which you have by the condition of lining of the nasal cavity. Which kind of pollen causes the most trouble, and when does that season start? Probably the most potent of all pollen is that of ragweed. This plant usually starts to pollinate in late summer and often continues until it is killed by frost in late November or early December (depending on the climate where you live). Will a physical move to another part of the country help? The problem with moving to another part of country to escape is that the wind can take these light-weight allergens hundreds of miles from where they originate. So trying to run away from them is not likely to work. When does pollen season end? It depends largely on where you live and the type of pollen. Tree pollen is usually the first to emerge and can do so as early as January in warmer regions. Grass pollen follows and last from mid spring to late summer. And finally weed pollen goes airborne in late summer and can last until early December or frost, whichever comes first. Is medication a short or long term solution? The answer to this question really depends on the type of medication. The first type is designed to control the symptoms and generally include antihistamines that are designed to dry up the additional mucous the body makes in an attempt to flush out the allergens. The second type of medication is designed to reduce the body's initial reaction to the allergen, which if successful, reduces the need for the medicines that control symptoms. Then there are allergy shots. This is a slow process that meets with mixed results for different people. The idea is to gradually inject increasing amounts of the allergen into the body. The hope is that the body will become desensitized and will be less likely to overreact with symptoms. Can an air purifier really make a difference? An air purifier with HEPA or high efficiency particle arresting filtration is one of the most consistent recommendations in the allergy management plan. Reducing exposure to the irritant is still the best way to manage allergies, and a HEPA can remove airborne particles that are as small as.3 microns in size. A cleaner with multiple sized filters, and variable filtration speeds is one of the most effective ways to stay on track despite hay fever.

Children's Allergies: From Fear-Filled to Healthy Immunity

| | 0 komentar

Children's Allergies: From Fear-Filled to Healthy Immunity Whether it is seasonal allergy and/or food allergy, these forms of hyper-sensitivities indicate an imbalance within your child's body. Common allergic reactions include hay fever, hives, eczema, aversion to food, asthma attacks and to a growing number of medications, such as antibiotics, penicillin, and aspirin. On a physical level, an allergy is considered a disorder of the immune system and can be digestive and respiratory related. Your child experiences a hyper reaction to a foreign substance that is otherwise considered safe. Allergies can be potentially dangerous, especially in children. It then becomes vital to address immediately with a safe and gentle protocol. Most allergies begin in-utero, so moms it is important to examine your own diet, emotional health and response to stress, especially if you are breastfeeding, as these potential factors may have contributed to your child's allergies. Key areas to explore when implementing preventive measures and addressing your child's allergy symptoms include: Refrain from introducing too much food too soon to your child. His or her body needs time to develop a relationship with each food; too much may be too taxing on the body. Proper mastication of food - teach your child to chew food, until it is soft and mushy. This prevents her stomach from attempting to break down big pieces of food, which may lead to indigestion. Choose organic produce that is free of pesticides. Prolonged exposure to pesticides can cause a build up of toxins in the body, which in turn slows down the body's ability to naturally process environmental and food elements. Choose conscious eating - decrease and/or eliminate microwave, prepackaged, and high sugar food from your child's diet as they too can increase toxic load within the body. The body innately gravitates to fresh foods, any preparation outside of that requires your child's body to work extra hard to process. The food that is unprocessed or undigested stays in your child's body as waste. Read labels/ask for ingredients when purchasing store bought food as most contains sugar, dairy, and nuts, which children tend to be sensitive to. Teach your child to respond with a peaceful and a calm attitude when facing his life experiences and to openly and appropriately express his emotions. On an emotional level, an allergy may indicate fearful thoughts your child is holding onto about life and the world and he overreacts or becomes hypersensitive when he perceives an attack, hence the definition of an allergy. Most, if not all conventional medicine products for allergies come with a list of potential adverse effects that are counterproductive to addressing the issue long-term and often creating new health challenges. Consider natural and alternative wellness options to strengthen your child's immune and digestive system. The stomach rules every aspect of health and approximately 60% of the immune system is located within the stomach/gut. Incorporate the right digestive enzymes into your child's conscious eating lifestyle, along with immune-boosting essential oils, and the appropriate amount of distilled water everyday. If your child weighs 50 pounds, 25 ounces of water everyday is the best fit for his body. As soon as you notice a food or environmental intolerance in your child, respond right away. Your early response is the key to preventing the onset of life-altering allergies. Are Allergies Controlling You? 5 Steps To Relief

| | 0 komentar

Are Allergies Controlling You? 5 Steps To Relief If you are allergic to tree, grass or weed pollen, the beginning of spring, summer or fall can feel like the beginning of the end. But that doesn't have to be true. Here are 5 things you can do right now that will get you on the road to relief. Close The Windows---This may seem contrary to what people usually say about letting in fresh air. But if you are allergic, letting in the air while pollination is happening can be disastrous. Instead, close the windows in your home and your car, and circulate the air rather than exchanging it. Some spores will still get in on hair, packages, pets, and through doors as you come and go, but the amount will be far less than if you leave windows open. Have The Ducts Cleaned---Heating and air conditioning ducts can collect all kinds of particles which can get blown into your home or office when you cut on the heat or air conditioning. Not only can they be a collecting place for dust, and other particles, but with the right conditions mold can grow inside as well. Investing in having the ducts cleaned will be well worth the health problems that you may be able to avoid. Vacuum With A HEPA---Vacuuming and cleaning surfaces with a damp cloth or mop are far better than sweeping. These methods minimize the amount of particles that go back into the air. However, the best type of vacuum (HEPA) is one with a filter that can minimize the particles that get blown back into your air. Encase Bedding With Dust Mite Covers---The protein in dust mite excrement is one of the most potent indoor allergens known. And unfortunately, mites are common to indoor spaces regardless of how clean you keep your home. The best way to reduce their population is to prevent them from hiding in the dark, moist bedding and feeding on dead skin flakes in your bed. These relatively inexpensive covers keep them out of mattresses and pillows. And since they are killed by sunlight, this is a very effective and natural way to control the problem. Fewer mites can often make it easier for you to sleep. A good night's sleep gives your body a chance to rest and be ready to handle exposure to seasonal stuff more easily. Filter The Air---The right air cleaner can be your ace in the home. Even after taking all of the precautions mentioned above, there are always going to be irritants in indoor air unless you take proactive steps to keep the levels low. A high efficiency particle arresting (HEPA) air cleaner is one of the safest and most effective filters to have working for you. In order to be designated as such, it has to have shown that it can remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particulates that are .3 microns or greater in size. Having a cleaner with this type of technology working for you around the clock can really make your indoor space a haven, and let you start enjoying life, regardless of what's blooming outside.

Pregnant And Allergies - Definitely No Fun While having to deal with allergies for anyone is uncomfortable, having allergies while being pregnant can make you feel truly miserable. While many medications have been used with no harm to the baby, no medication should be considered completely safe from side effects and opting out while during the pregnancy is completely understandable. But having difficulty breathing and not getting a lot of sleep because of allergies, while not good for the mother isn't good for the baby either. So, how can a mom keep her baby safe while controlling the misery of allergies? Any mom looking for options in managing allergies during pregnancy will be happy to discover there are plenty of choices in both avoidance and control. Avoidance of Allergens - Whenever it's possible, avoiding to take medicines during pregnancy is preferred. In allergy maintenance, this is best done by avoiding triggers as much as possible. Take steps like these to help reduce your allergic reactions: • Using barriers like dust mite covers on pillows, mattresses, and covers protect from one of the most common household allergens. • Air purifiers using HEPA filters help manage indoor allergens. • Water filters are effective in reducing the effects of chlorine, another very common allergen. • Having HEPA or water based filters on the out ports of vacuum and steam cleaners are a good way to reduce the dust disturbance and removing it in a room during cleaning activities. • Consult air quality reports before planning outdoor activities. Limit outdoor exposure during times when your triggers are at their highest. Control of Allergies During Pregnancy - Unfortunately, it's virtually impossible to avoid all allergens so finding ways to manage the effects is a necessary alternative. Here are some great options in finding allergy relief: • Check with your doctor to see what medications are safe to take while pregnant. • Consider dietary changes. Eating vegetables high in vitamins C and E help the body fight the damage caused by free-radicals, Omega-3 helps reduce inflammation, and reducing your intake of dairy can reduce mucus. • To increase blood flow and to thin mucus, eat more spicy foods. • Eating raw local honey introduces your body to the area's pollen and may lessen the impact of airborne pollen. • Natural remedies such as Stinging Nettles, Goldenseal Root, and White Pine treat different symptoms effectively. Being pregnant and having allergies doesn't have to mean you'll have to be totally miserable this allergy season. Following a few simple tips in avoidance and managing symptoms effectively will make sure that there is nothing left to do but enjoy the pregnancy.

Gluten Allergy: Is Eating Gluten Make You Sick?

| | 0 komentar

Gluten Allergy: Is Eating Gluten Make You Sick? Gluten is a complex protein found in many grains, including wheat, barley, rye, and oats. Gluten is found in a large number of foods commonly found in grocery stores and restaurants. The rise in processed food over the past few decades has also meant an increase in gluten consumption, because most of prepackaged foods contain gluten. Unfortunately for many people, gluten is difficult to digest, and the ingestion of gluten may trigger allergic reactions. It is unknown how many people are affected by gluten allergies, mainly because most people who suffer from gluten don't even know it. To make matter worse, there is no one specific symptom that will help people know if they have gluten allergies. Some research has shown that there may be over 250 different symptoms caused by a gluten allergy! Some people might have just one symptom, and some might have several. And, even worse, people might be (and often are) misdiagnosed based on the symptoms, because the symptoms are usually similar to a wide variety of common ailments. So, what are the symptoms? As was said above, there are many different effects from a gluten allergy, but there are some symptoms that are more common than others. These include: Headaches Join pain Depression Miscarriages Constipation Diarrhea Abdominal pain Fatigue Poor sleep habits For some people with gluten allergy, the continued ingestion of gluten will lead to celiac disease. Celiac disease occurs when the body attacks gluten when it is in the small intestine. This is a dangerous disease because it damages, sometimes permanently, the small intestines. This damage leads to the inability to absorb nutrients, meaning that people with celiac disease can slowly starve to death, regardless of how much food they eat. While it is unlikely that celiac disease will actually lead to death, the body does literally become starved for nutrients. There is hope for anyone with gluten allergies and/or celiac disease. The one and only way to prevent symptoms is to stop eating gluten. This can be done, though it will be challenging at first. It may be helpful for people going gluten-free to consult with a nutritionist, so they have an easier time eliminating gluten from their diets. However, it is best for people to involve their doctors in the decision to stop eating gluten, since there may be other problems that crop up as a result of not eating gluten. Family doctors will be able to keep an eye on their patients as they eliminate gluten, and catch any problems early, or help their patients prevent them from happening. If you have chronic physical problems that don't go away despite your, or your doctor's, actions, consider asking to be tested for gluten allergy. Be sure that you continue to eat gluten before the test, which will most likely be a blood test. If you stop eating gluten before being tested, your body will stop reacting to it, and this can result in a false negative.

Gluten Sensitivity Symptoms - Hype Or Reality?

| | 0 komentar

Gluten Sensitivity Symptoms - Hype Or Reality? Is gluten a miscast villain in the diet world? Perhaps. A new study raises the question about gluten sensitivity symptoms and challenges the usefulness of following a gluten free diet plan for most people who have not been carefully and properly diagnosed with celiac disease. Despite what you might see on the labels of all manner of foods in the grocery store, or hear from enthusiastic celebrity spokespeople, gluten free is not the right choice for everyone. An estimate has from 5% - 6% of us, some 18 million Americans, having some level of sensitivity to gluten. Let's start with the basics; gluten is a protein that's a natural part of wheat, rye as well as barley, which are used to make beer, bread, pasta and lots of processed foods. For roughly 1% of us eating glutens brings on a condition known as celiac disease that damages the wall of the small intestine so that the body is unable to absorb food nutrients. The disease is properly diagnosed by tests on blood and bowel, but there is no widely accepted test to diagnose gluten sensitivity. Symptoms linked to gluten sensitivity symptoms include some of the same ones attributed to celiac disease - diarrhea, cramping of the abdomen, bloating, headache, fatigue and possibly ADHD. But until there's a test that identifies gluten sensitivity, diagnosing this condition will remain a challenge. In a recent essay researchers who specialize in celiac disease, discussed what we know about gluten sensitivity and delivered common sense recommendations about the much hyped gluten free eating. They suggest that the discomforts that accompany eating foods with gluten happen because these foods are believed to cause a problem. This is known to science as the nocebo effect, if you presume the worst health wise, that's just what you'll get. Many symptoms thought to related to gluten might really be sensitivity to other parts of wheat flour or another ingredient in foods made from wheat. And then, a gluten free diet is not bad for you, and will help even if you have other wheat allergies. That's what food makers are counting on, and why you see so much gluten bashing on labels. Of course gluten free diets (and products) aren't going anywhere. The truth is, there are are large number of people who are suffering with terribly troubling symptoms that do improve when they follow this eating plan. The danger of misdiagnosing gluten sensitivity symptoms is that going gluten-free when you don't need to deprives your body of fiber and gives it too much fat. Close monitoring of what you eat is important, as we know that for those who live with properly diagnosed celiac disease eating gluten-free eases the discomfort of symptoms and restores the digestive system to health.

Starting School With a Peanut Allergy

| | 0 komentar

Starting School With a Peanut Allergy If your peanut-allergic child is entering kindergarten or a new school next year, now is the time to start getting prepared. Having your meetings at the school before the current year ends, will help everyone get ready for your child's first day of school. Schedule an appointment with your child's doctor to go over your child's allergy action plan. Request documentation of the peanut allergy, prescriptions, and any other materials you may need. You will need to contact the school and should speak with both the principal and nurse. Schedule a meeting to discuss your child's needs and start developing safety procedures to help avoid exposure to the allergen. The meeting may include the principal or administrative representative, nurse, food service director or staff member, classroom teachers and specialists, counselors, coaches and gym teacher, custodian, bus driver, attendants and aides. Anyone who will be in direct contact with the child should be encouraged to attend. At the meeting, review the allergy action plan that was developed with your doctor. This will list the warning signs of an allergic reaction and steps to take in an emergency. Discuss how and where the medications will be stored and who will administer it in an emergency. Parents will need to frequently communicate with the school nurse to make sure all the paperwork is in place before the first day of school. This will include providing forms from the child's doctor/allergist, along with any required medical forms from the school. Make sure your child's medication is labeled, and keep a record of the expiration dates to know when it needs to be replaced. This may include the epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPen, etc), Benadryl, and any other medications prescribed by the doctor/allergist. The school will always need to have a current contact number to reach you in an emergency. Having a cell phone that's always with you, is a must. List any other numbers where you can be contacted, along with the numbers of any other family members that can be notified. If you feel comfortable, offer to help the school with any training or educational materials you may have on peanut allergies. Find out when and how they train their staff, and how often they train/educate throughout the year. Some important topics staff members will need to learn about: Recognizing the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction, the administration of an EpiPen, creating a safe environment, label reading, proper cleaning of peanut residue and cross-contamination, and bullying. Discuss setting up a peanut free zone in the cafeteria and the possibility of a food ban in the classroom. If treats are allowed in the classroom, purchase peanut-free snacks that can be stored and offered to your child when needed. Don't hesitate to ask the school any questions you may have before your child's first day of school, or any day after.

Differences Between Allergies and Intolerances

Differences Between Allergies and Intolerances We need to tell apart between allergies and intolerance, which are two very distinct physiological feedback. Allergies are brought on by the eating of normally harmless substances that the body identify as foreign (such as casein or lactose). This in turn causes the discharge of antibodies to fight off their existence in the body. Consequently, the body will release chemically activate such as histamines to alert the body to the attacking matter, which can result in inflammation. Allergies can range in harshness, and at their most extreme can result in anaphylactic shock. Food intolerance, on the other hand, do not include the immune system. Intolerance result when an enzyme needed to absorb certain substances does not exist in the body. Those experiencing from lactose intolerance, for example, does not have sufficient quantities of the enzyme lactase, which is to blame for breaking lactose down in the small intestine. Without the essential amount of lactose, the lactose gets sent directly into the large intestine, causing a range of digestive troubles such as flatulence, bloating and stomach cramps. With some 30% of Americans suffering from lactose intolerance, it is the most common food intolerance in the country. And unlike dairy allergies, which many children develop out of, lactose intolerance only degenerate with age. This is because, as we get older, the quantity of lactose our body manufacture naturally decreases. The most dependable testing method for understanding to dairy is the elimination diet. This involves the prevention of all casein or lactose-containing foods and processed foods as well as all dairy food for two weeks. After the two-week period you should begin re-introducing certain dairy foods. Some health experts suggest that you begin with small servings of organic skim or low-fat cow's milk for two days. If after the two days you begin to notice any of the above symptoms, you most likely have a sensitivity to dairy. If, however, you experience no adverse symptoms after the two days you may continue re-introducing dairy products with the same two-day rule until you are confident you are tolerating them well. Alternatively, some common medically supervised testing methods are The lactose intolerance test: This blood test measures blood sugar levels which, under normal circumstances, should rise after the ingestion of lactose. The lack of rising blood glucose levels is indicative of undigested lactose, and thus, lactore intolerance. The hydrogen breath test: This test account for hydrogen levels in the breath resulting from undigested lactose in the colon. The stool acidity test: Like the hydrogen breath test, this test analyses levels of acidity in the stool brought on by undigested lactose. This test is usually given as a substitute for the hydrogen breath test for young children and infants. Treatment options range depending on the severity of the allergy or intolerance. Those with a mild intolerance to lactose, for example, may still be able to consume limited amounts of dairy products with the use of a digestive aid, such as a lactase enzyme. Simple avoidance, however, is generally the most reliable form of treatment. At the same time, since dairy is our primary source of calcium intake, thus taking on a dairy-free diet must be sure to substitute alternative sources of calcium so as not to become susceptible to deficiencies. For dairy allergies, an antihistamine may be prescribed, although patients should be alerted to possible side effects. Another, slightly more controversial treatment alternative involves desensitizing the patient to the allergen through a series of injections. Natural treatment options, on the other hand, will most likely involve strengthening the adrenal glands through stress reduction and herbal supplements such as licorice root and Siberian ginseng.

What Is a Milk Allergy?

What Is a Milk Allergy? A milk allergy is an allergy to milk meaning that if you drink milk you will have an unpleasant immune response which may be unhealthy or even threatening to your wellbeing. A milk allergy however is distinct from a lactose intolerance which works a slightly different way. The difference comes down to the differences between allergy and intolerance. With an intolerance you have a particular part of your body that is sensitive to a particular substance, or you have a problem with absorbing or digesting it. This then can cause a number of issues such as stomach complaints though these are generally felt over a long period of time and will come on slowly. Someone with a lactose intolerance might go for a long time without realizing that they have the problem as the effects won't be immediate and will include milder problems such as general lethargy and stomach pain. As such many people will confuse lactose intolerance for a general tiredness condition such as ME (and interestingly the two are often linked). With a milk allergy however the problem is slightly different. Here you are likely to suffer a much more immediate and acute response, and even if it doesn't occur immediately it will be very obvious that something is 'wrong'. The way that a milk allergy works is very different to the way that lactose intolerance works, as here it is not the milk causing the problem - but actually your own immune response which is firing when it shouldn't do. In other words, your immune system has overreacted to the milk in your bloodstream and treated it like a toxin thus causing an immune response which will normally consist of swelling, redness and discomfort in the area as your body attempts to mobilize itself and remove the offending substance. Ultimately this can lead to anaphylactic shock in which the body's major organs shut down and the victim is in risk of losing their lives - however in most cases a milk allergy won't be this severe. Another danger however is that the throat swells and that this causes difficulties with breathing. Can Milk Allergy be Cured? The good news is that there is a cure for milk allergy which works in the same way as cures for other allergies. This uses a technique called 'immunotherapy' in which the body is very gradually reintroduced to the substance in order to desensitize it. For instance then a very tiny amount of the milk will be injected into the blood stream, but will be milk enough that the body doesn't have a huge reaction. Over time this is increased until the body acts normally around the milk and the milk allergy is gone. Management Short of immunotherapy it is also possible of course to manage a milk allergy by simply avoiding dairy products and milk itself. There are many possible replacements for milk that are just as beneficial (though sometimes in other ways) and just as tasty (according to some) such as soy milk which comes from soy bean, or goats milk or powdered milk depending on the nature of your allergy.

What Is Gluten and Gluten Intolerance?

What Is Gluten and Gluten Intolerance? There are an increasing number of people who are suffering a reaction to gluten and are consequently removing it from their diet completely. However in many cases people remove gluten from their diets unnecessarily because of a misunderstanding of various aspects of intolerance towards gluten intolerance, the main reason being that they misunderstand exactly what gluten is. The following is an explanation as to what gluten is, the types of gluten and how gluten occurs. What is Gluten? Gluten is an elastic and rubbery protein. It is generally found in wheat and wheat products, but it can also be found in other products. It can be found in rye, barley and to a smaller extent in oats. Products that are always free from gluten include maize and rice. One of the main characteristics of gluten based products is a doughy texture, therefore, food groups such as breads and baked goods are the main types of product found to contain gluten, as gluten is the substance that provides the spongy feel to the products. Gluten is also used in a wide variety of other foods due to its excellent qualities as a thickening and binding agent, it also has uses in flavour enhancers and protein supplements. As a thickening agent gluten can often be found in soups, broths, sauces and gravies and as a flavour enhancer it can be found in things such as vinegars, dairy products and coffees. It can also be used as a stabilizer in the gum that is used to seal envelopes. However gluten is not the only protein that is contained in wheat, rye and barley. All of these foods contain lots of other proteins, some of which may cause an allergic reaction. There are therefore other substance in these foods that can be causing your allergic reaction so you are not necessarily suffering from a gluten allergy. If your body displays symptoms of gluten intolerance with food related to gluten you should not automatically deduce that you are allergic to gluten. It could mean that you are allergic to one of the other substances contained in these foods. It is therefore very important that you have your allergy check out by a specialist to ensure the correct diagnosis. Adverse Reactions There are a number of adverse reactions to gluten allergy, these can include: Swelling of the tongue and mouth Bloating Migraines Skin Rashes Weight Loss Anemia Gluten allergy is immunological and can in some cases cause a condition known as anaphylaxis which in extreme situations can be fatal. Explanation Of Gluten Intolerance Gluten intolerance occurs when you become sensitive to gluten, the proteins in the gluten damage the small vain like cells that are attached to the wall of the intestine. These cells known as villi are responsible for your bodies intake of water and nutrients such as folic acid, calcium, vitamins and iron. When the villi are damaged it results in a reduction of nutrients to the body. It is therefore very important that if you think you may suffer from gluten intolerance that you seek professional medical attention.

Cures for Spring Allergies

| Rabu, 11 April 2012 | 0 komentar

Cures for Spring Allergies There are a lot of people sneezing lately due to seasonal allergies. For many people who suffer from allergies, finding relief can be somewhat difficult. Trying to find the right medication or remedy to try and be able to breathe through your nose, and not have to rub your eyes ever few minutes can get frustrating, especially if you have tried several different methods or medication to help alleviate your symptoms. There is no need to worry though; there are some things you can do to help you breathe easy even though you normally suffer from seasonal allergies. If you normally get a stuffy nose because of pollen or other irritants, there are a couple things you can do. First is using a Neti Pot. A Neti Pot is a small tea pot that you can fill with warm salt water or a saline solution and then poor it up your nostril. It doesn't sound very comfortable, but the end result will be well worth it. The saline or salt water solution helps thin your mucus which means it isn't holding on to different allergens which can normally cause inflammation to your nasal passages. Perhaps though, you don't feel like getting a nose full of salt water, you can always rely on the healing power of warm mint tea. Mint is a very good decongestant and can help sooth an itchy throat, cough, or other sinus related problems. It has also been suggested that apple cider vinegar can help with allergy symptoms. You can take apple cider vinegar to help with many health issues such as keeping blood sugar regular, and with allergies. This type of vinegar can be applied to dry skin, hives, you can also drink it to help with an itchy throat or sinus irritation, or even just breathing in the fumes from it can help with a stuffy itchy nose. If you have itchy, watery eyes, there is relief out there for you. You can use normal over the counter eye drops that are specifically for eye allergies; these are normally pretty effective and may be less expensive than prescription eye drops. You can also look into getting some chamomile eye drops as a home remedy rather than eye drops with certain drugs in them. However, if you wear contacts, you will want to double check any eye drops you may choose to make sure they are safe while wearing contacts. Some drops may discolor or ruin contacts, so if you aren't sure, ask your eye doctor if it is ok. You may also think about getting disposable contacts that you can throw away each night. This can help prevent contact lenses from building up irritating deposits. Of course, if you don't feel like messing with home remedies, you can try medications for allergy relief. These medications will contain an antihistamine which helps with common allergy symptoms like sneezing, itchy, and a runny nose. Some of these medications can be found over the counter, but if that doesn't seem to help, you can talk to your doctor. They may be able to prescribe you something stronger to help alleviate your symptoms. You may also want to see your doctor if you have asthma or any other health issues before trying any home remedies or over the counter medications. If you have health insurance, you may want to check if there are any particular medications for allergies that they will cover.

Spring Is Here and I'm Not Feeling Twitterpated, I'm Feeling Irritated!

Spring Is Here and I'm Not Feeling Twitterpated, I'm Feeling Irritated! oday is the first day of spring, and I'm excited. The sun is shining, flowers blossoming all about and fuzzy animals frolicking. There's a large metro park a few miles from my home, and I'm itching to get out on the trail and hike off into the wilderness. K.. not so much. He's itching, but in an entirely different way. He takes Claritin religiously and dreads the oncoming weeks - I'm sure, to his eyes, the clear sunny day is thick with noxious pollen and other irritants. He really has horrible allergies, so, out of naught but pure love (and let's face it, sniffling can get annoying after a while), I looked up some at-home, and some store-bought remedies that might lend him a helping hand. During spring cleaning, wear a mask to keep minute debris from entering your mouth and nose. This can be when you're opening your windows to air everything out, or when you're mowing the lawn. When you clean inside, opt for more gentle, eco-friendly cleansers with less chemicals. Keep your home clean! Pollen and allergens such as pet dander adhere to couches, carpets and bedding. Invest in a good air purification system; it'll grab airborne pet hair, pollen and dust and keep it from making their way to you. This was one of the first things I bought when I moved in with K - you'd think he would have thought of it, but apparently it never occurred to him. Try to avoid using fans in the window that pull allergens inside. Invest in a neti pot and put it to good use! As the weather gets warmer and we experience humidity, mold can form in places where you can't see it. A high quality dehumidifier should help. Be sure to open windows and doors when you shower, and keep air moving. Mold lights dark, dank places, so keep things dry and well-lit - natural sunlight is the best for this! Because an allergic reaction is your body reacting defensively by releasing histamine, antihistamines are an obvious means for comfort. Taken orally, they can sometimes cause side effects because the dosage can't be targeted, but recent formulas as found in Claritin and Allegra, etc, are very effective when taken daily. There are a few natural alternatives to these: stinging nettle, 300 mgs a day has been proven effective. You can find it in capsule form; Butterbur. Butterbur can be difficult to find in the US but is reportedly as effective as the drug Zyrtec, without the side effect of drowsiness. It is a member of the ragweed family, and thus using it could backfire entirely, so be careful. 32 mg of butterbur a day divided into 3 to 4 uses has been reported as effective. Nasal sprays are also available - the downside is that they aren't the most comfortable to use. It involves sticking a peg up your nose and squirting liquid. The plus side is that the effects on the nose, eyes and airways are usually immediate. After returning inside from the outside, change your clothes and wash the ones you were wearing. Chances are pollen is hitching a ride. If it's still bad, make sure that you shower before bed to keep from rubbing the allergens into your bedding. If you're going to be out and about, you can actually check pollen forecasts at www.pollen.com. Aim for days after rainfall - there is usually less pollen flying about. Among being great for many other reasons, a healthy diet will help boost your immunities. Look for ways of incorporating hemp seed oil or flax seed oil; these are rich in fatty acids and have been reported as being helpful with fighting the effects of allergies. Fish, nuts, fruits and veggies - along with cold-pressed oils - are high in antioxidant properties and anti-inflammatory properties. A simple but powerful immune boosting supplement may be all that you need to strengthen your primary defenses and render histamine release (what causes congestion and puffy eyes) to be a last resort. Take a look at Immutol, a supplement backed by over 3,000 peer reviews touting its success.

Can Lipstick Make You Sick?

| | 0 komentar

Can Lipstick Make You Sick? If you wear lipstick, chances are pretty good that you've never considered the possibility that doing so could make you sick. To be honest, for most people it won't. But for others, people who suffer from gluten allergy or celiac disease, it very well could. Did you know that lipstick commonly includes gluten among its ingredients? I didn't until I started to research foods and items that contain gluten. Gluten, which is known among bakers for its ability to give bread its chewy texture, is also great at binding ingredients. Because of this, many cosmetics contain gluten. While it may not be a big deal if eye shadow contains gluten, lipstick is a totally different matter for one simple reason. Lipstick can be ingested. And not just lipstick. Lip balms, lip glosses, or even lip liner all might contain gluten. People who are either allergic to gluten or have celiac disease need to be aware of this. Although people don't eat lipstick, the fact that it is applied to the lips means that trace amounts can be ingested. Trace amounts may be all that is needed for the body to have a reaction to the gluten. Not just women need to be aware of this. Men do, too. Men may not wear lipstick (well, most don't), but they may kiss women who do. Or, they may wear lip balm. Men who live gluten-free need to make sure the women in their lives, or their own personal lip products, are not going to cause them potential health problems. Reading the ingredients for your favorite lip product is a good place to start. Look for any reference to wheat, since wheat contains gluten. But this may not be enough, or it may not be possible (when was the last time you saw a list of ingredients on a tube of lipstick?). If you do not know if a lip product contains gluten, contact the manufacturer, and hopefully they will be able to provide you with the information you seek. If in doubt, you can seek out lipsticks that specifically state they are gluten-free. Some brands that market their lipsticks as gluten-free include: Eccobella Red Apple Lipstick Afterglow Cosmetics If you find a lipstick you like that is gluten-free, it is a good idea to buy more than one at a time. This will ensure that you have a backup tube, in the event that run out. Unless you live in a big city (and maybe not even then), you may have a difficult time locating gluten-free lipstick, so having a spare will keep your lips moistened and beautiful.
